Recommendation? File Guides - 2021

What broke on it?
Have you tried phone calling them?
Or send it back in the mail with a letter
It has two harened steel round bars that guide the moving half. One of those broke.
I got a quick answer that is covered by waranty and never gotten an answer since I mentioned international shipping, not even a "no".

Thanks for the input peeps.

N Natlek this is my DIY one. It works fine, but I wanted to try out one of the professionally made guides.

I don t get it

You have mill , you have grinder and you want to buy this tool from others ? You can make it in half hour and it will cost you as price is for two TC strips ?????

Very surprising.... the riverside I have has 6.34 dia pins. How can those break?

I just ordered one in spite of your experience since a) Bump is sold out at the moment, and b) according to Google they are a mere 7 hour drive from me in case I REALLY need to get a hold of them.

And they wont be perfectly parallel either.
Can you please define *perfectly parallel* in numbers ? Like 0,.. ? Because in my shop i can measure only 0,001 ...........but if necessary I can borrow something more precise ?
Dammit , I must have lucky with this roll of double tape !!

Oh I bet they would love you on a watch forum with you pulling out the tape and parts from the junk bin LOL

If you want a pad between your carbide, go for it.

I prefer metal to metal contact

i guess im the only one sitting here wondering why you guys don't just buy a couple strips of Carbide to build your file/milling guide??
it is sold ass Carbide blanks. i have many 1/4 x 1/16 x 3 that make a perfect face for that project..
many other sizes are available ..

Because buying tools is half the fun :D
But seriously, some enjoy making their own tools. Me I earn my living making and selling knives. Tool making costs me more than buying.

The carbide is the easiest part of that build.

I also use the Creative Man file guide. No complaints so far, does what it is supposed to do.

LOl..........LOL.... what LOL :D 0,001 is no joke !! That will make gap so i can see Golden Gate in San Francisco from here
But seriously .......This is where this tool shines .... forget shoulders , I can do that on grinder free hand ...............

You are right , we need 15 $ reamer in right size to make this tool.
This is how i do that ...................

And if you have some 0.001 mistake , start working on new one ...............this one give it to me , I can live with 0.002 not with 0.001:p

On the the issues I saw with my carbide DIY file guide was that the carbide I purchased from MSC wasn't perfectly flat... just annoyed me a little. Anyways, buying a good file guide doesn't bother me. I'll be getting the Bruce Bump SS/Carbide when he has them back in stock. Thanks for the help guys.
