File knife progress

Thanks kialand09, yes this is my first knife.

Thanks gredpe3, you are correct, and I am kicking myself now. I do have the leftover part of the file profiled for a hidden tang, I WILL be HT'ing that one, and from now on!
 
Holy crap. that's gorgeous. You should be very proud of yourself. So - without the heat treat - how useable is it?

Broomhead, I etched by laying down a thick layer of the wife's nail polish and using a toothpick (before drying) I scratched out the letters. Then took a battery charger, hooked the positive to the knife and the negative to qtips soaked in supersaturated salt water. Plugged in and dabbed over the stenciled area, changed out qtips as they dried up.

sawgrass7, I put an edge on it over the weekend w/ a smith's guided sharpening sys, I was able to get it plenty sharp, though I don't hold high expectations on it holding an edge for long.
We'll see.
