Good job. Files can make pretty nice knives, I have a few I made and a couple made by guys who really know what they're doing :)

I'm a bit hit or miss with getting the heat treat right on files, but when I get a good one it's golden.

I like the shape, it's basic, but nearly universally known - for a good reason! Convex grind looks very well done.

Thanks guys i appreciate your input:thumbup:.
christof its the first one iv done and the heat treat seems to have gone well:).
i think ill make some more i really like the look of em:thumbup:.

I have absolutely zero suggestion to add to the blade for you, it's a damned fine job. If you make more and you want to you could experiment with bringing your convex grind higher and putting some more distal in that way (depends a lot on personal usage)

The handle is well done, if you want to mess with the design with other knives you could play around with different profiles a bit. I like the feel of a slight increase in the drop of the edge, for indexing when I'm grabbing blind and my own personal safety feeling. I also like a touch more rounding on the butt, though your style of handle there looks like it would work very well with 3/16 or 1/4 exposed tang for beatin on stuff.

with micarta you can also chamfer the pin holes a touch and then swage out tubing pins in the holes for a bit more mechanical fastening. I use a light touch with an conical burr in the drill press and a conical punch for the finishing. Do it with the epoxy wet but not runny and it's golden, I don't even clamp blades I do that with since the pins are holding things tight for drying. '

None of which is meant to detract from a FINE job on a knife- just stuff to play with

That will be the best knife you ever own. Job well done! Not only looks great but I bet you know every inch of the blade.

Another great one Warren! I never fail to impress me. Great job, that is a damn good looking knife.

That looks almost exactly like my buddies file knife, maker unknown, that I have been admiring for years. Good job! I like it!
