Bondy- cool! suggestion and ideas are just that. I've been coming across pretty harsh lately, I'm told, and really do think you've made a seriously good knife.
Detail on the idea of raising the convex grind- this is a recent technique in my work. I've been doing it on the really large blades, and found that it is translating well to the thicker (1/8 to 3/16) "small" blades. I do about 75% of the blade profile and then get the convex grind going until I have a good distal taper built with the convex coming up over the spine on the fron third or so of the blade, then tune the profile and finalize the grind. I just heat treated one of these in a spearpoint and it's possibly the best 'small' knife I've done in terms of grind angle and mass.
Takes a bit of work to translate that from words into form, but if you want to do a more tapered grind (I honestly don't like a taper on a straight spine leuku influenced bushcrafter. batoning!) for a different style, that's something to look at.
Obviously, not something I'd suggest for this knife. Hell, I'm tempted to ask you if you want to do a trade after the holidays. I really, really like it.
I am interested in both the manufacturer of the file and the heat treat, myself.
I've found I'm more hit and miss with modern nicholsons that the older japanese files I pick up at flea markets. Honestly, if it's old and says japan, I know it's going to be a decent knife.
