And I do not mean the paper file kind !

Just in from the shop and the mess of it all drives me crazy. Tonight's aggravation are my files, here there and everywhere. The quantity has out grown the typical slot cut into a shelf idea (to many), throwing them in a box, or a drawer is not a good idea, and rolling them into a pouch seems unsatisfactory.

Can anyone share any great ideas ! No suggestions are to trivial to discount - seriously, how do you organize this chaos ??

I keep mine underneath the bench, Laid out by size.
You don't really need anything fancy to store them, unless you live in a particularly moist environment

A bucket full of sand mixed with motor oil. Stck the files in it when done, it will also keep them rust free.

Myself, I have 4 drawers in my tool chest just for files, before I got the big tool chest I stored them in my wood cabinet which is 2'Dx3'Wx7'H and I keep dehumidifyers in there for drying wood. Never had a rust problem once. Needle files are just in a small soup can.
