I've read a lot of complaints about the quality/availability of good files. How many of you blacksmiths make your own files? What type of steel do you use and how do you do it?
I don't mean NO ONE has made their own files....but no one makes their own files as far as I know. I could make a $400 knife blade from the same piece of W-2 steel in less time than making the file would take ( and probably never approach a $20 magic cut in quality).
