For those of us not lucky enough to own a Busse Filet knife what would your second choice be if you were in the market for a good filet knife?

If this is too OT for the Busse forum I can delete it or mods can nuke it.

Thanks.

what about a Dozier

I know a lot of folks like them. Always looked a little wide to me, but if Bob's other knives are any indication, I'm sure it works very well.

I would like a Dozier but want to be able to get it in this life time. :D

Please keep the suggestions coming, I appreciate it.

I have used a Rapala for over 30 years and I would probably buy another one if I could find it. It has been a fine razor sharp knife and has filleted a lot of fish.

Filet knives are a big help and I'd love to have one but.... this week while I'm out camping etc. I'm going to filet a 9 inch trout with a Fat Warden SE just to piss off Ban:p

Hahaha.... That is assuming that you can catch them :p

Remember to take pics if you do try to fillet a trout with a FAT Warden. I am sure it can be done. Just not ideal.

Ban,

I was joking.

The fat warden will not make this trip. All I'm going to bring is the new AD and a leatherman. And from the looks of things I may not have a camera.:grumpy:

But I would still like to see you fillet a little trout with a FAT Warden

Rapala is a fine knife because it's made by Marttiini, a Finnish company that has long made good fillet knives. The rubber-handled Rapala is another great bargain in a fillet knife.

My Rapala is an old one with a varnished wood handle . . . still works great after spending many many moons doing dirty work during the Alaska Salmon Seasons.
