filework and epoxy question

I just started doing filework on my blades and have no idea on how to keep the epoxy out of the filework as the handles and spacers are put on my fixed blade knives. Can anyone help out a beginner?

Acetone (Never tried white vinegar it but heard it works as well and is not a carcinogen) and a tooth brush. Don't wait too long. I attack it just as the epoxi (Acraglass) starts to get thick.

Another school of thought is to uniformly fill the filework with epoxy. Mix in a powder or paste die to color the epoxy (usually black, but whatever color you want), and as you're afixing the scales, evenly fill in the filework with epoxy. After it is set up, grind or sand away the extra epoxy to expose the file work.

I do like epoxy free filework, though.

You can also dry fit everything and while it is dry fitted put a good heavy coat of Ren. wax all over it, including down in the file work. The epoxy will not stick to it then.
