I've started doing a little filework on my knives, and have been using dyed epoxy to fill it in, like I see in pictures. The problem is that it wants to pop out of some of the grooves, after a while. Am I doing something wrong, or do you use something else other than regular epoxy?

You can also try dying a tougher material, like JB Weld. I also find the epoxy from K&G is very good for this type of work. It is a slow cure (24 hour),and dyes well with their powder dyes. Another problem might be the dyes you are using?

There is also a product called Marinetex avalible at most marine supplies that is very tuff. Avalible in black and white. I think you could color it. For an interesting effect I save my machine and drill chips of different materials and after running them thru a sifter I mix them in the epoxy. Sanded and buffed gives a nice effect.
