Filipino Grip?

I realize this is a very basic question.

Mike Snody has a new knife designed by Mike Janich (the Ronin) and the comments on Snodys' website say that is is designed specifically for the filipino grip.

I have not studied filipino methods.

My question is; what is the filipino grip?

And how would one use it with this knife?

Thanks,
Ron

Rknight, the grip is described in Mike Janich's book "Knife Fighting: A Practical Course". Hoch Hochheim discusses it at his site at http://www.hockscqc.com and book "Military Knife Fighting"

Basically the knife is held at 45 deg angle or so, blade forward, the thumb usually doesn't touch the handle. The grip is sometimes called tjabang (sai) and the thumb forms a sort of guard to seize the wrist though some let the pinky hang out. The grip isn't universal or genetic or anything but an option.
