You've probably seen enough balisong footage on tv and in the movies. Ever see any other Filipino weapons on tv?

Swiss Family Robinson. Indonesian pirates are using Moro Krises. (Think about that)

Cat's Eye, an early 80's movie that they showed again today on TNT. Not a martial arts movie.

I think it's a three part story of a cat's journey encountering this ugly tiny monster holding a kris blade weapon trying to harm the kid (Drew Barrymoore) at the last part.

Smoke: Talking of weapons sightings especailly on movies. Phils is rich in other weapons if just history. have ever heard KULAM, ANTING ANTING that comprises the posession of stones, roots, animals teeth, magic words and many more. In Filipino movies you may see all these things. In tagalog they called it AGIMAT. To name a few people who practice the art and became outlaws and make history, they are NARDONG PUTIK (a tagalog); TOOTHPICK (an Ilongo); KAMLON (a moro) these three even challenge the Military and have actual fire fights against them. They are all noted in having Anting Anting or Agimat and has been testified by many Police Officers and Military.

Nardong Putik died with an encounter of the NBI (like FBI,) when his feet are not touching the ground as being claimed and that time his Agimat has been transferred to his son. Toothpick, did not die in the encounter but when he return to normal life he was stabbed to death. Kamlon, did not die in the encounter but he surendered and he was jailed. There are many more I'll just end it here.

Actually, people who has anting anting and agimat will be killed also by some one who knows the antidote. One example, if a man with anting anting against a bullets or a blade, some olds advise that you must cook a rice and you must wipe your bullets or blade to the cooked rice and for sure it take effect to the person intended for with anting anting. If a person with agimat or anting anting, cannot be wounded by sharp blade, use a stick or anything that is not sharpen or at the back of the axe or reverse it, I mean if cannot be wounded by blade use something that is not blade.

jrf, I hope it's NOT just me keeping the forum alive.

stdalire, I've heard of anting-anting, a few books cover it well. I've heard of the NBI as well. It's been awhile since I read any Pinoy history books but 'Filipinos at War' is the best I've found. The artwork by itself is good. Another good book is "Moros and their Swords" by Robert Cato.

"Kris" of the Moros are famous in the south of cutting any iron made weapon also. That is how kris became famous. There were histoies that an Original Kris can cut a Carbine M1 or M2 into two pcs by Moro Huramentados "Suicide-Fighter a little bit insane". Shoot it with your .38 trusty and he will not fall the ground he can still strike you to death. So, the .45 was created and the only caliber that will stop a Huramentado. That is how Kris is famous also. Some of my Moro friends told me that many Moros who has anting anting also did not die from bullets wound but died on the impact of the big bore pistol.

Here is another tip. In Phil. anting anting world. If you want to let him down shoot it on the mouth and for sure the anting anting will not work.

That is why I am gathering all the anti weapons of anting anting to have at par with those having it.

If you are a practioner of an anting anting never go inside a church as it will erase the virtue or power of your anting anting. Don't also visit or go inside a house of a person that is having a death interment. This will all affects the effectiveness of your anting anting.

This is one staggering story of one way to obtain an anting anting, Some old folks said, if you want to have pre-notice anting anting, I mean you will be advise ( by seeing a shadow of a person)not to go out because of imminent danger that will come to you. My grand father has a lot of dead man bones that were tied up in his waist. I was told, their grand grand father also can put down a an eagle that is flying on the air by just using anting anting. I was told also, that if you steal from their Mango tree you cannot get out from it, as you will be stick to it and you can just get it out when you will be whip by the owner.

Well, Filipinos is endowed with many kinds of anting anting or agimat and many of this charms or agimat used by famous fighters against spaniards were displayed in Madrid Museum.

Thus, if we are asked if we have sighted many Filipino weaponry of the past we have a lot from abstract to opaque one.
