Traditionally, a fillet knife often does not have a guard but it gives me the willies to think about having fish slime on my hands and nothing to protect my fingers. I use a knife like this to butcher venison too. The thin, flexible blade works great for taking out the back strap and slicing steaks.

Nice looking knife Gerry, good looking wood and classic blade design. Like you , I use my fillet knives for everything. A versatile user at a fair price!

Man, I love your polished blades. You can shave with AND in them! Is that a red spacer behind the guard?

Got the knife in the mail yesterday (Thursday). Fast! It is a beauty (as are all of the knives I have received from Gerry)! You know what the hard thing is? Giving it away! This one is a gift for my youngest son who is a serious fisherman. The best gifts are the ones that are hard to part with! Thanks for the fine workmanship Gerry!
