Hello all. Hope nobody gets thrown by our Government's desire to pretend to control time....

I was going to post this question as a response to a previous thread, but thought it may be more useful for others in the future to start a new thread.

I see almost all the time the suggestion to fill a gap in the handle with epoxy dyed black or brown, and am wondering why the suggestion isn't to mix some epoxy with sanding/sawdust from the actual wood that is used for the handle?

Thanks

Sawdust mixed in epoxy (or glue) may be an adequate fix on a large piece of furniture but, it is very obvious on a knife. It really comes down to what your standards are; personally, if I have gaps the scales get completely removed and replaced or the knife goes in the junk drawer.

When i used wood for scales the prettiest woods, the ones that were burls , often had small imperfections that I never did care to see on my knives. The CA glue sometimes worked, but ---.

Thanks for the explanation and for saving me from potential disappointment in the future.
