Posted this in customs but I also wanted to share with you guys here. It's been too long since I finished a knife.

You can read the rest here:

Hope you guys like it. I'll have some questions to improve especially the mechanics of it for the next one.

Thanks for looking.

I can't even imagine how you ground that blade... Looks like a lot of effort was put into that one

Looks great Patrice, I'm happy to see you extending your individuality into folding knife design!

WHOW!
You've made something beautiful there.
That worked spine did you use a hand graver for that?

And it might be me but my first thought was Start Wars!

Wow Patrice!! I can't wait to see what you make when you start thinking outside the box. ;) You are fun to watch. Jess

Great looking folder. I like stuff that is outside the box and done well. This meets both criteria!

And lol, I see the droid in that picture as well.

LOL I do see the droid now that you mention it. Steampunk Star Wars maybe? ;)

Hengelo, I used a Gravermeister for that because I am learning but it is simple enough that it could be done with push gravers. (I found that a microscope was almost a must though, thanks again Stacy )

I appreciate all the good words, means a lot. :)

That is a piece of art. I strive to raise my level of craftsmanship with each knife, and look up to a lot of guys on this board. When I see your work, I know I'll never even get close to matching it, I just don't have the artistic eye. I have just realized that the few knives I have made are tools, and all my future knives will be tools, when compared to this level of workmanship.

Patrice,

You're like a pinch hitter who doesn't get up to bat often but every time he does he hits it outta the park.

Thanks you guys sure are nice. Good words from my pears is priceless. I have to be honest, I was really afraid it would not be very well received. :o

CMJ, of course there is nothing wrong with making tools. But if you do want to develop your artistic eye, it can be done. Looking in all kind of designs, be it architecture, art, nature, etc... and trying to imagine how it could be applied to a knife is a great way. The best way I can describe my process is imagining something WAY out there and dialing it slowly back until it's close enough to the considered a knife.
Just don't sell yourself short because you think it is something you are born with and can't learn. Of course some people ARE born with a higher level of creativity than others. Give them pen and paper and they'll produce a masterpiece. Give me pen and paper and I'll end up with a drawing of a horse that looks like a cow...an ugly cow at that. ;-) I have to work hard at it and I believe anyone can if they put enough effort in it.
