Finally!. . . A Pic From The Crab Shack!. . .

The Crab Shack is what the small group of meticulous old codgers call themselves who work in the Busse Custom Shop and who make the amazing handles and blades that adorn most of the killer cool Busse Custom Shop blades.

I was finally able to get a pic of this cantankerous crew which is kinda like getting a pic of the James gang. In fact I'm pretty sure that at least one of these guys rode with ol' Jesse back in the day!

From left to right: Woz, Denny, Mike, and Cappy.

Woz is a Navy Veteran who worked the sails on the Mayflower and later served on a destroyer during the Vietnam War.

Denny is Garth's Dad who piloted many a Conestoga wagon out west during the mid 1800's and who later made a living as an over-the-road truck driver in this century and the last.

Mike Thourot is an avid hunter who shot many of the wooly mammoths that we use for handles today. He is a long-time knifemaker who is credited with making King Arthur's sword! After helping George Washington cross the Delaware he later served as an Army Ranger in Vietnam.

Cappy is credited with single handedly putting out the great Chicago fire of 1871 and recently retired as a Captain from a local Fire Department!

All in all these four guys bring well over 10,000 years of experience to the Crab Shack. Garth (who is not pictured) leads this scary group of old HOGs as best he can.

Know that when you're holding a Busse Custom Knife from the Crab Shack that you are holding a piece of history made by men who were there when history was being made!!!:cool:

We salute you!:thumbsup::cool:

Let's Drink!

Jerry:D

The blades they have done. My goodness...!

Thanks for the pic Jerry. It was great to meet and talk to Cappy at BladeShow this year.

Great pic and accompanying stories Jerry. Pics of living relics like these from the Busse Museum of Natural History are a rare thing.

looks like I need to move to OH and work with them, my kind of folks.

Cheers gents! Man, I'd love to pour them drinks and listen to the stories. Thanks for the peak behind the INFI curtain!

While that is quite a list of accomplishments, even more spectacular are some of the knives coming out of the Custom Shop! I therefore proclaim them to be "magicians", for those blades far exceed the work of normal men! ;):D

Seriously, great work guys – the knives you make are truly amazing!:thumbsup:

That crew looks like they could put a “few” drinks down the hatch. Thanks guys, great pic.

Thank you Jerry for the humorous story. Also for keeping that pictured herd of ornery malcontents off the streets and their time occupied with productive and meaningful endeavors. :)

(I agree with everyone else ... their work is awesome!) Here's to their continuing good health!

This whole post and picture are badass - thanks for sharing a little more about the men and women whose presences grace your own!

Cheers to the Mystik Krewe de Crab Shack, and much appreciated for your service to country and community and for your careful labor that goes into these blades.

Thanks for posting these types of deals, Boss.
