I would think that when the oven is at heat you would have s tough time opening and closing the door without setting your arm on fire? The handle will be directly in he convection path of the hot air. I would make the same hinge design, but have it open sideways. That way you won't need counterweights, and your hand will not be above the 2000F opening.
