So I finally got around to getting the materials and bugging my brother in-law to give me a hand.

The lines on the back rod are 1/2" apart, and each line increases the angle by 1 degree, the point at which the file meets the blade is 22.5" from the point on the back support that the file extension rests on.

I have a bunch of different sized files so I just got a small vise grip to hold the file in place. Both handles were jimmied from whatever we could find.

Criticism is welcomed, I know it's not perfect.

It's a really big pic btw, I don't have the means to resize it right now.

hey man.. that looks good to me. Ive filed my blades freehand before. so I have never used a file jig. but I like the way you spacedout the rods incramentally to match the degree change. I hope it works well for you.

That looks awesome! If I had the room in my shop, I'd build one!

Do you have a stop behind the blade to keep in from pivoting?

Were it I, I would install one of these just to make it look even cooler!

HOLY COW!!! I was looking for one of those at Lowes for hours!!! The employees there didn't have a clue what I was talking about. Thank you so much!

*edit* I was going to put a stop in, and also a guide to keep the bevel line straight, but I was unsure how I wanted to do it. So we called it good until I start using it, then we'll add as I go/need.

Harbor Freight sells those clamps for a couple bucks each. I know because I bought a handful of them Sunday. :)

Awesome design. I'm stealing it.

Lowe's doesn't carry those, except maybe as something you can cobble together from stuff in hardware.

That's a very cool tool, kinda like a Lansky on steroids :D. Mayhaps someday soon I'll build one.

I do like the clamp that is from Mcmaster, that can also be purchased at HF. I'll get the HF ones, I'm sure they're much less expensive, also probably of less quality but,,,,,,,

Wow, that is cool! You could mod that and use it as a sharpener with a little bit of thinking.
