I've been working on three knives at the same time and I finished this one first (except for sharpening). A sgian dubh for my father in law.
1/8 in. 1095
6 1/8" overall - 3" blade
deer antler and ancient bog oak handle with spacers
rope style filework on spine
mustard patina

That is a really great looking knife.

I would be happy to have it.

The bog oak and colored spacers are a nice combo.

Nice! Love the traditional handle material choice. I think this is the first forced pattern patina on a blade that I have liked. It works very well on this knife. Thanks for showing it.

Thank you all for the nice compliments.
And yes, it feels good to get this one finished. Only two more to go before Wednesday!

Well executed Sgian Dubhs are somewhat tricky, as you are building a hidden tang knife out of thin handle material- generally 5/8"- 3/4" at the thickest point. Good job! The blade to handle proportions look great, too.

Nice job! kicks the crap outta my couple sgian dubh's I made. Where did you get the bog oak?

Thank you everybody! This one turned out at 1/2 inch at the thickest point.
The bog oak actually came from a pen turning blank...perfect for a sgian dubh
