Great pics. Nothing like a little R&R in those states...especially Colorado. Your last pic of Hartsel...I've been there. Not "in" the jail...just passing by:thumbup:. By the way, where are you in the pic with the railroad tracks?

Wait. Your job is chasing tail and you got tired of it??? Well, I guess you can get tired of anything. ;)

Great pix. Glad you had a good time.

I used to cowboy in the mountains up around Boulder and Grand Junction during the summers when I was a teenager. It's great country, and I saw some bears too.

Three things about Pike's Peak really surprised me:
1. There is ample opportunity to kill yourself if you are not paying attention. Many, many times, we were driving up hill and it seemed like all we could see in front of us was sky. I don't think they have much of a guardrail budget in Colorado either, at least not for PP.
2. There is a marathon where people run up to the top. That is hard core!
3. More than hard core, there is an annual car race to the top of PP. That is just insane. A little loose dirt in the corner, no guardrail, and you're easily history. And where do you pass??? Amazingly enough though, I never heard anything about any fatalities from such an activity.

One of my high school classmates won the Pike's Peak foot race two years in a row. His name was Jeremy Wright. Unfortunately he was killed in Afghanistan in 2005.
I absolutely love So. Colorado and N. New Mexico. I would like to retire to that area when/if the time comes.

Nice to see you out there ... living 'the life.':)

BTW, many of those who run up turn right around and run down. Now that really IS hard core.

Hi. Seems you had a very nice trip there, that lanscape is gorgeous and has some beautiful places! It's a shame we don't have more of such an unspoiled and wild countryside here...

killer. cool pics.

I love this state.

where's this gorge?

That would be the curvy road area on 92 south of Maher as you head east. I believe that is Gunnison River, which flows into and out of Black Canyon of the Gunnison Natl. Park.

The RR tracks go through the middle of Palisade Campground approximately 12 miles southeast of Creede on 149. It was a great little place!
