But I'm stumped on the colours. It definitely looks sexiest in black on black, but the steel on black looks classy. Yet at the same time, in pictures it looks flimsy for some reason.

Anyone have the steel on black PM2? Would you say you regret it and wish you got other colours or that it's perfect?

I don't know why, but I really like the digicam. But if I could get one right now, I'd have to go for the brown g-10 and s35vn steel. Not sure if it's a sprint, but I'd sure like to try that new steel. I'm looking a para2's as well, did you rule out the black blade because you prefer the look only, or do you prefer satin/brushed/etc blades? Curious because I like the black but don't know how they hold up.. Either way, I still like that brown g 10, definitely check them out if you haven't already (imo best bet as a collector as well).. enjoy your para2, I can't wait until my pennies allow... -hayes

I have had it in both, currently in black. Either way they look great it really depends on what you prefer. .

The black wont scratch as easy as the satin blade, but you cant really do anything about a scratch in the dlc coating when you do get them, you can always polish or stonewash a satin blade. Would you prefer a polished or black clip? The screws on the black are coated too which is nice, the liners are not tho. I would choose black out of the s30v models, if you are looking at some of the sprints then thats a whole nother story.

I'm leaning away from the black on black because black shows it's wear a lot more and a lot faster (at least that's the case on my BK2 and BK9) and well all but one of my blades are black. I don't want the digicam because I want to use it as an EDC, and I'd like to get some "oohs," "ahhs" and respect for class with this knife to none knife people. Digicam is kind of asking for lol's around here.

@user above: you sure the black doesn't scratch as easy? That was a reason I was leaning away from it.

I agree with staying away from digi on an edc. I personally have the black g10 satin blade verson and it is great for edc. Personally though, if you can afford it, I would go with the blue m390 version. The blue g10 is definitely an eye catcher and is a nice variation from the typical black. I have the same blue g10 on a sage 3 and it is very nice. Combine that with a m390 blade and you have a very difficult combo to beat.

Well, it isint as noticeable, like my black blade is pretty scuffed but you dont notice as much as on a nice satin blade.
The satin looks more classy to me, rather that the tactical look of black on black.

I'm currently looking for my first Para2 as well, and have decided on digicam. I really didn't want to spend 3 figures to test drive the Para2, so I am looking at S30V users only. I dislike coated blades in general because of the increased slicing friction, so that leaves me with satin/black or satin/digicam. There is something about the digicam that appeals to me.

I gotta admit, the blue and grey look good (and the steels are pretty sexy) but more than I wanted to dump into the pattern until I figure out if I like it. I thought the LH Millie was supposed to be the last knife I ever bought;), but it just didn't do it for me.

Is the blue only available at Bento? I also really am digging the black on black myself also it's the bees knees.

The DLC coating that Spyderco uses on the Para 2 is very durable. I have been using mine and not babying it at all for over a year and It still looks new. It's nothing like the typical garbage coatings you see on most other knives.

I found myself asking the same question when considering my first pm2. I ultimately went with the black on black (non coated hardware) version. I'd agree with Jet B about the DLC coat being durable. I have been putting my pm2 through some pretty hard work as well and the DLC on mine looks new too. It's all up to your personal taste.

I just got a black on black on black para 2 in a trade this week. The DLC coating should hold up much better than the current powder coating on the Beckers.

I have a black on black and a satin on brown, and I can say I like them for different reasons. The all black para 2 gives me a tactical feel and is good for keeping a low profile with its black clip. My brown para 2 on the other hand is more people friendly and it is very warm feeling. Not to mention, the steel isnt bad either. Get which one you feel like getting, you won't be disappointed with either.

It depends on what kind of guy you are. I live in the mountains and the digi cam black blade just speaks to me. It fits in with my lifestyle. The black DLC is very durable. I have field dressed 2 deer this year with my digi PM2. This is a recent pic and as you can see it still looks new. The top of the line PM2 is the blue sprint run M390 steel. It's Spydercos best knife PERIOD. IMO. You will never loose money on the blue PM2 if you decide to sell it down the road. I didn't buy it for that reason but it is something to consider. The m390 steel is in another league and makes the blue PM2 THE alpha dog.

I have to second or third or whatever the blue M390 PM. It's pretty great. It's expensive though, but worth it if it's your only Spydie. Bento's pretty quick about shipping them too. I ordered on a Friday night and had the knife in my hand Monday morning.

I have blue, brown and black, with orange and green on pre-order. They are really quite addicting. And not cheap. :)

The color selection is very subjective, but the hard-use guys may be more concerned with blade steel than scale color. I'm liking the look of the black with black. The new version has the black hardware too, which looks sweet.

One of the coolest things about the PM2 is all the choice in color, steel, handle color, etc. For me, there is just not a better general purpose/edc knife for the price when you get a basic non sprint model. I struggled with deciding between digicam vs. black handles with s30v. I decided on the black with satin blade just because I want my pocket knives to look as "friendly" in public and think things like DLC coatings are a little more "tactical" looking no non-knife people. I love my PM2 and I am sure I will be carrying it very soon again and at least switching it up with my few-day-old zt0550 when the newness wears off. Talk about a solid knife, wow. The PM2 is different but equally impressive in my opinion. Good luck!

IMHO, other than a personal affection towards appearance, I don't see the need for a coated blade unless it's a carbon steel or for tactical purposes. A black handled/ satin blade Para-2 is perfectly fine for me.
