Finally getting the Paramilitary 2

Hardly flimsy. Its a pretty stout knife. Color is second to steel choice, it could have pink fur if it had S125V for all I cared.

I'm leaning away from the black on black because black shows it's wear a lot more and a lot faster (at least that's the case on my BK2 and BK9) and well all but one of my blades are black. I don't want the digicam because I want to use it as an EDC, and I'd like to get some "oohs," "ahhs" and respect for class with this knife to none knife people. Digicam is kind of asking for lol's around here.

@user above: you sure the black doesn't scratch as easy? That was a reason I was leaning away from it.
Spyderco's blade coating is in a league above what you may be used to if you're comparing with Beckers or even CS or Fallkniven. It's a lot more than black spray-paint. But then again, lots of people use their Beckers to split and carve stiff wood which can rub pretty tightly along the surface of the blade and pull that finish off. To my knowledge, not a lot of PM2's being used to split/carve wood like that. As already mentioned, most coatings do increase friction along the surface during cutting, so it could make long slices just that little bit more difficult.
EDCing a knife around non-knife people, I find a coated blade to be an advantage for the low-profile - believe it or not, reducing that flash of bright steel does help if you're trying to go unnoticed with your knife... But it sounds like you are actually trying to attract at least some (positive) attention from people around you. IMO, a well kept satin blade shows more "class" than a coated one, so if you keep it razor-sharp and well polished, the knife will get the "oohs" and "ahhs" you're looking for. But really, it's the user and not the knife that will impress people, again imho.

Good luck on your choice!

I avoided the Para2 for quite a while because on the few occasions that I'd been able to handle one - for mere seconds at a time, mind you - I found the compression lock to be a bit on the cumbersome side.

What a mistake.

Fortunately, I voiced my reservations to some of the Spyderco faithful and they convinced me to give one a test drive. The gray CTS-20CP version has headlined my EDC rotation ever since. What a fantastic combination of cutting efficiency, lightweight strength and ergonomics.

Although I have multiple Benchmades and Spydies in super-steels, I EDC the same folder. It's an excellent choice, IMO.
