Finally Got a 110

Hey everyone, new to this sub forum. Today I got myself a Buck 110 from Walmart. After a Vantage Select that was the worst knife I ever owned, I got rid of most my Bucks, the other one was in storage. Well today the 110 was looking at me from the display, and I decided to get it. Boy am I glad I did! From the lock back to the nylon sheath I love it all. I'm going to pick up a 112 so it's legal for me to pocket carry instead of having to wear the sheath of the 110, but this will be my new woods folder. Faith in Buckmanity restored!

Welcome to the Buck Forum and congratulations on your new Buck 110. Over time it will grow on you - you will be glad you bought it (and will probably buy more!) OH

You'll love that 110, I've had one for years that I also bought at Walmart for like 12 bucks the day after Christmas many years ago. The 112 is also a nice knife, but I would recommend the Buck Spitfire or Slimline, more modern one hand openers. If you're deadset on the 112 though, you won't go wrong with it.

You done good! The 110 is an outstanding knife. The 112 is just as good, just shorter.

Smart move on Bucks part, to keep their US made flagship knife available and affordable at a store with so many customers. And it sits there pretty in the display among all the China made knives (including Bucks China line). It's the deal of all deals. And we all know how they multiply. I have purchased them directly from Buck, Buck Custom Shop and special runs from several vendors on this forum. I've always had Buck, but it was only a few years ago that I got my first 110. Now I have so many.

Don't get me started on the 112. I finally got my first. The standard model is just fantastic. I'm almost afraid how they will multiply too.

Congrats on your 110!!!

Everyone should own the 110, and if I were you I'd also not want to use the sheath.
It belongs in a nice piece of leather not nylon, I'm glad big 5 had them with leather when I got mine.

What's not to love about the 110? It's nearly perfect and stamped U.S.A. Lately I've been on the hunt for extra 110 nylon sheaths. I use to strictly be all about carrying one in a leather sheath but last year got a nylon one and couldn't believe how comfortable it was to carry and the horizontal carry option makes it tuck and conceal nicely. Check one out if you want to carry with more comfort.

Good deal! The Walmart here sells them for $27 with leather sheath.

With leather sheath? You sure? I've only ever seen WM carry the 110 with nylon.
Big river's price matched WM for a while and they have it with leather sheath, but they seem to have bumped the price back up to roughly the same as the other retailers.

I actually bought another 110 just last week at WM in case they decide to come up from the temporary price dip.

Does this mean I have an excuse to buy a backup next time I'm at WM?

He maybe right and I stand corrected. But, I was in Academy today...sporting good store down south and they DO come with leather sheath for $27.99. You could buy another online, might have free shipping. Not sure.

I was thinking about getting one at WM just for the nylon sheath. I'd like to try it out, especially the horizontal carry. I've always liked sheath carry better for my Bucks, unless it's a 301 or something along those lines. I don't like my 112 sheath though because the loop is all stretched out and it's pretty floppy. I have to put some stitches in it or something...

Another nice thing about the 110 is the variety of sheaths available by various makers: Open top, cross-draw, horizontal, vertical, diagonal, tooled, plain, automatic openers, various colors, you name it it's out there. You can get as many sheaths as you like and have a different one every day while still carrying the same knife.

I really want an open top sheath for my 110's. I got one for my Case trappers and I absolutely love it. For the 110 I'd rather see one in person instead of ordering one. Anyone have any good examples?

This is what I use...holds tight, comfortable, you can sit with it (even if you have a slight spare tire). I like it!

That's really nice. I think I'll have to look into one of those. Thanks for the picture....

Congrats there Jday!

IT so happens that I was in town visiting old Wally today too, minding my own business because I was asked to go look at those solar outdoor LED lighting thingamabobs you stick in the ground. After a couple of minutes of intense investigation, I didn't see anything we couldn't live without so I swung by the sporting goods department to do the usual quick check on rimfire ammo availability. Nope, as usual. Got plenty anyway, I guess.

While I was there, I innocently had a glance in the knife case and there were no Buck 110s to be seen. I always wanted one of those when they came out in the 60s and when I didn't see one in the case, I got sort of worried. As you all know, the thing has always been too good to be true and a steal for the price. My wife needs some education in this fact, but that's beside the point (for now). I flagged down a guy sorting sinkers over in the fishing aisle and he claimed there was one in a box out of sight. He also said they sell out pretty quick while some of the junkers they have in there can get kind of rusty (so to speak). Well, he brought it out and I took a look. No wobble, great finish work and that good old USA 420HC from Buck for under $30. Nylon sheath, but it was nice too.

You know the rest. I came home with a steal of a deal on a great knife (my first Buck 110 after 50 years of lusting after one). Now, how to explain this situation? No funny stick in the ground lights when I come back from town, but a new Buck knife. This is probably why I don't get to go into town and do the shopping. As I recall, I got out of doing the laundry for the rest of my life in a similar fashion many years ago :).

Man you guys got a good deal, I'm looking at the receipt right now and mine was $39.99 before tax, and $43.19 after from big5 in 2013 ( but I guess that how it is in California )
