Well, I've finally got some time off school and managed to talk my girlfriend (and mutt) into a dayhike!
This has been one of the most beautiful days out that we've had all year, sunny and a temp in the mid sixties. Just beautiful!
We made a trip to my favorite backpacking spot, the Red River Gorge. It's about 1.5 hrs east of us. It's been at least a year since I've been able to get even a hike in here, and we chose a trail that I wasn't familiar with. Fun! We started off up a steeper trail and ended up at a climbing wall, so around we went. Going the other direction at the fork was a much more laid back trail, perfect for easing into the season.
The trails were still pretty muddy in spots, we've had a lot of snow over the last week that's still trying to melt in some places. The creeks were flowing nicely though!
I had daydreams of getting lots of pretty panoramic landscape shots (Red River Gorge is really breathtaking), but I wasn't really ready to take my pooch out on the cliffs when I wasn't sure how she would act. Still had a great trip though.
My gorgeous gal and hilarious pooch-
What happiness looks like-
Pooch on a bridge-
Peekaboo! She's stalking prey...
Thanks for looking! I will be posting more pics and reviews that are gear oriented in another thread (part II). Check it out!
