• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

It was my Great Grandaddys, but was in the posession of an inlaw who wasn't on good terms with the family. Had to go begging and hand over a little cash too. No problem. I now have an anvil. Only problem is that its not flat on top. How do I go about flattening it? Other than that and a little rust its in perfect condition.

if you are just starting to learn to use the anvil. Just use it like it is. Untiul you get some hammer control

An anvil doesn't have to be flat, a little dip is helpfull when straigtning anyway

Good to know. Thanks Sweany. I've certainly got a lot to learn. I've already learned that I need to remake my forge. Damn thing takes an hour to get a blade red.

When you are ready to true up the top,get two things. An angle grinder, and some metal working belts for a hand held belt sander (like a 3X18). Grind the top fairly even with the angle grinder, and sand it smooth with the belt sander.
Round the edges a bit to keep from chipping them. Grand Daddy would be proud!

I hope the anvil serves you well. It's great when something like that continues to be used.
