I've been hanging around the Rat Forum for a bit now as an imposter, but yesterday I FINALLY got my first RAT Knife in the mail. It's an RC-3 and now I totally understand the fanaticism behind this brand. The blade already has a few scratches from my wife going postal on a few boxes we had laying around the house and hopefully I'll be able to add a few of my own in the next couple of weeks going camping...:D
Just wanted to thank y'all for how welcoming you've all been and RAT for making such a quality product.

Congrats on a great first RAT Cutlery knife! The more you use it, the more you'll love it!
 
Great start. You know the wife will want a pink Izula so just go ahead and get it for her. Better an Izula for her than losing the RC-3.
 
Welcome! Great choice for your first RAT. The 3 is definitely my favorite, and you can't go wrong with the canvas micarta either :thumbup:

I do believe you're right. Since this was posted countless sheets of paper have been plucked from our printer and needlessly slaughtered for her amusement. The thing I do love is that she never cared for knives at all before I met her...:D

Same first, and only, RAT for me. Nice choice :D

Love mine so far, also. Although I have the RC3 MIL, which has the glass breaker pommel as yours appears to have. I thought the regular RC3s just had rounded pommels??
 
What? Only one :eek: You know what they say..

Three is none, two is none, one is none ... at least with RATS, as you can't seem to stop buying them!

you can get the regular RC-3 with both kind of pommels. the difference is that the regular RC-3 does not have a sharpened pommel like the MIL, just rounded or "pointed"
 
Great choice on a first Rodent.... RC-3 is a wonderful blade! You've fine that you'll start to lust after all the RC blades, wanting one (or more of each) but the great part is no matter which one you choose, it will not let you down. :)

I had no idea I'd like this blade so much. I've already begun eyeing the RC-6...

Man, I never get tired of looking at these knives. Just got my first RAT (RC-4) and can tell already there will be more.

The RC-4 is another one I'm looking at but I wonder if the blade size is too similiar?

Congrat's and welcome, I wear my 3 every day on my belt, but lately I've been using my Izula more and more , you can't go wrong with any RAT. You'll love them all and your GF will get jealous if you don't get her her own. ;)

Well I hope not, because I’m still planning on getting a 3!

I actually had them side by side. The 3 is a nice thin slicing blade and the 4 is a slightly thicker blade for heavier abuse….I mean use. For a general use knife, I don’t think you’d be disappointed if you bought an RC-4 to go with your 3. I really like mine so far. My next will be an Izula or an RC-5 most likely.
