How exactly do you say that, anyway, I bought a calipers? I bought calipers?
I bought calipri? What if you bought more than one.... caliperses?
Anyhow, I got a pretty decent calip....amajig thing at Harbor Freight, for 15.99! electronic too! reduced from around 35, and they seem to work fairly well. Let's see what I got.....
SHSH with slotted bolts... INFI.... .308 FAT!
HOFSH...... .324 REAL FAT!
SHBM.... One around .270, the other closer to .280
Wedding knife..... .275
1/300s.... All seem to be in 280 range.

where are you measuring, as that does make a difference.

I recently saw some plasticrap, (plastic dial, rod, and teeth/gears) at HD for $26, then went to HarborFreight and got really nice Digital Aluminum for $12 or 14...

nice, works great.
thanks for sharing #'s

Nice buy! I got the same ones at the last sidewalk sale! Gotta love Harbor Freight! I've got a gift certificate for HF actually! I need to go spend it! A kid in a candy store!

Yeah, I know.
I was measuring right above the micarta across from the talon hole and the butt. Sometimes the Butt measures a hair wider, so I used the spine area.

Good place to measure. That should be the thickest finished area. I measure a little forward of that just over the Ricasso on the spine. The thickness drops a little by then but not much.

I tend to measure several places and then to list the measurement for each.

Both sides of the butt, near the edges, Same for area in front of the micarta.

Much easier to get good measurements near the edges than across the flats.

Good tip. I looked online at the HF site and they have several calipers available in different sizes and some appear to be on sale. They seem to be an excellent deal so I'm picking up one also. I'm sure they're more than accurate enough for my use.
