Well I picked up a brand new Spydie card (really cool clamshell package) at a gunshow and after playing with it, today I noticed small stress cracks in the back where it "butts" up to the blade when open.

what should I do and am I the only one with this problem?

TTTT - Those cracks you see are a result of the forming of the SpyderCard's handle with something like a press brake. Basically, a single piece of steel is bent into a "U" shape, as with the handle, and those cracks are a result of the bending process. My SpyderCard has the same cracks you talk about. I doubt they will cause any problems in the long run, given the SpyderCard is not a heavy-use item. Hope this helps.

Mine has them, too. At first I was concerned, but I couldn't see where they would cause any problems. Then, after looking at the Spydercard some more, I wasn't even sure they weren't put there intentionally.

Oh.

well I hope that doesn't happen when Spyderco starts making balisongs

I wonder what decorative filework would look like on a spide card

I recently got one, and looks like mine doesn't have this. It may be that Spyderco has tweeked the manufacturing process for better quality.
