Finally installed my Deep Carry Clips

So I finally got around to installing my free Deep Carry Pocket Clips.

A few notes first. I had to bend the clips to get them tight enough where I felt comfortable the knife wouldn't pop out of my pocket.

On the Mini Barrage - only the scales are tapped. The liners are not. So the longer screws they sent wouldn't work. They pushed the scale away from the liner. I just used the old shorter screws, even though the screws are black and the clip is silver. This is a user knife so I don't mind.

The longer screws worked just fine on the Mini Ritter Grip with Kevin Wilkins anodized Aluminum scales.

What do you think? I like them. I like the looks and the way they carry.
 
They look great! Can I ask what model clip you asked Benchmade for? I need a deep clip for my mini grip with cuscadi micarta scales! Not sure if I want black or silver for mine yet is why I haven't contacted them.

This is the exact quote from the email I sent to Benchmade.

"I would like to request 2 Contego Clips. One black and one silver. Thank you."

Of course I added my return address. It didn't take long to get them. A few weeks.
 
Aquaman67, I had the same problem you had with your deep carry clips with different results, . I used pliers gently (I thought) to tighten the fit, and BLAM! the clip snapped right at the bend...oh well, I should have heated the clip a bit but that would have also discolored it. Hmmm?

Btw: Nice looking cutters especially the barrage.

that sucks. I'm glad I didn't know that before I bent mine. I just used a Gerber Multiplier and a Microfiber cloth. I actually bent the silver one way too far. I took a wooden clothes pin apart and bent it back some. It worked out well for me. I did notice it took a lot of force to bend it and when it bent, it bent fast.
 
I don't think it matters which benchmade it is for,I think the clips ar all the same.I ordered 2,one for my mini gryp and one for my 940 and they look the same.

Benchmade makes different clips for different models, but a majority of them use the same clip.

The deep carry made carrying my 707 a lot better. Also makes it slightly more hand filling. If they would just give them the black oxide treatment they'd be perfect.
 
Looks good. The Mini Ritter grip and Wilkins scales combo is really growing on me. Think I may have to order an M390 Ritter and some Ti scales and give the Mini grip a second chance.
 
That is a 915 Triage. That clip will not fit a Griptilian. The holes are spaced too wide.

I really like the way that the Benchmade deep carry clips look. I'm not a fan of deep carry at all though and prefer to have more of the handle to grab when I pull the knife out of my pocket. I do have a deep carry clip for my Kulgera for office carry.

I was in the same boat. I think that's why it took me so long to get the deep carry clips for my knives. But I've found if you just give a gentle nudge on the bottom of the knife - it pops up enough to grab it.
 
Stand Straight : I've done this on a lot of my knives, as well as some for friends. The key is bending them, without using pliers to bend them, since that almost "folds" them, which causes them to snap, in my experience. I use a little wooden dowel on the inside of the clip to prevent that 'fold' from occurring, but rather a gradual bend over the whole angle. Hope this helps.
 
Thank you WCEDC. I can see where the dowel would have been the way to go. Next time...if there's a next time. :)

Called BM Customer Service, spoke with Cindy, told her that I would like a deep carry clip for my Mini Grip, she asked which model #, told her "558", she asked for my address, then said the form has been submitted, expect to see it in about a week. Sure enough, about 5 days later, I got it.

Only problem was the included screws were too short, about half as long as the originals. So I had to use the originals.

Oh yeah, that's my new Spyderco Native 5 LW sulking in the background cuz it can't get one.
"But the PM2 got one! the Delica got one! and now the RSK?! You don't luv me anymore! *sob* ;)

BM customer service is top notch. I asked for an Adamas clip, since I bent the last one. She sent me three clips and three sets of screws with a note saying, "We're sorry to hear about the broken clip, we hope these are enough for the future." LOL
