I've been looking for a Fight'n Rooster pearl lockback whittler in minty-fresh condition for a while now -- preferably a non-club version -- and I finally found a pristine "Captain's Rooster." It has nice (and fairly rare) nickel silver liners rather than the usual brass, locks up like a vault and has some of the most opalescent MOP I've ever seen on a production knife. The small pen and coping blades are extremely snappy with firm pulls, unlike many (most?) of the Case/Bose examples of the pattern.

Here it is with the '05 Case/Bose. They're both 3-7/8" closed, but the Case is obviously quite a bit more substantial.

I tried to capture the fire in the pearl here, but that's always a tricky proposition.

Congrats, Rick. A looker for sure!

Thanks, Elliott. It's always a hoot when you reel-in one of those hard-to-find patterns.

Looks awesome Rick.
No doubt this one as the fire when you can get that much color in a picture.

How old is it?

That is one classy looking knife.
Congrats on such a good find.

Rick, that is some gorgeous MOP, for sure. Congratulations on an extra special knife.

Thanks, Guys.

Stu, it has the "Frank Buster Celebrated" stamp, so that dates it somewhere between 1982 and 1994.

Day-um Rick, that is one beautiful knife!!

Unreal hues down in that pearl, just staring at it can be habit forming.:D

Carl.

Very nice Rick. The Matchstriker pulls really set it off. Especially, the long pull on the master blade. Yes, the Case is obviously quite a bit more substantial but the MOP scales on your knife beg for a little less platform so as not to be overwhelmed by the frame and bolsters. Geez, I hope that made sense.

Thanks again for the nice comments.

I get ya, Ed, and I tend to agree; pearl, being both subtle and delicate, is perhaps best complemented by a frame with less than brick-like proportions. :D

Sweet, elegant knife. I love the slender, rounded look to it. Makes you want pocket it on one impulse, and display it in a case on another.

You're right - incredible MOP. Better than any I've seen. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats Rick and thank you for posting it. I never knew that Frank tried that pattern. Looks like they did a fantastic job.

That knife is gorgeous.

(Every time I see a post like this, I start looking for a 'Drooley' smiley, to post my appreciation.)
