FINALLY Made a 2x72 grinder

Nice looking knife . How about all the juicy details though :D. Steel, OAL, handle material, etc.

Thanks!

Oh s! yeah about the knife!
It is 5/32" O-1
6 and 3/8" overall length with 2.5" blade, based on a drawing i did from scratch out of my head at work a while back. The one I made i extended the blade about a half inch over the drawing.
Anyways, it has Walnut scales with formby's tung oil finish rubbed in with paper towel.
Red liners. Material from usaknifemakers
1/4" stainless pins, peened and glued with superglue
I used Superglue because i didnt want to get in the car and go to lowes for epoxy! Yes i am that lazy:D

And for thew best part, the Heat treatment..you ready for this? I stacked up a bunch of charcoal on my weber grill fired it up and hit it with a hair dryer to get it roarin' hot. I had a magnet closeby and just kept checking the blade on it then quenched in warm corn oil. Seems to have worked except for about a half inch or so near the handle end were it didnt harden much. The file slides off the rest of the blade like nothing, wont even scratch it. I decided to say screw it and finish it out anyways since im keeping it as my first!
I have a poorboy propane forge on the way to get 'em heated better.

I had my original drawing made into a real knife by Eddie White back in june last year...his is WAAY nicer! But i really wanna learn this stuff, so i just went for it.

Nice I'm sure others will chime in but I believe to properly treat O1 it's a bit more than that ;). In case you plan on using more of it in the future

i built this grinder a year ago. i got all the metal tubing cut to length. for every tooling arm. from fastenal for $75 it was easy and fun to build!

Oh yeah, i was in a hurry kind of just to get one done/ I hope my new poorboys propane forge will help. Im going to start reading up more on o-1 since i have a good bit of it.

Thanks!

Man, I really need to scrounge the $25 and buy the plans... Then I will know what I need and can accumulate the pieces bit by bit and get away from the Delta grinder I'm using! Looks great!
