Jon, what concentration/dilution of muriatic are youusin for your etch? I want to etch a coupleof kukris made from 5160, and possibly etch some of my SS blades later on.

Here is an Elmax blade that I etched with Muriatic acid after going to a 400 grit machine satin finish. After this pic was taken I used some red scotch brite pads and 1200 grit wet paper to give it a bit of a smoother look and to brighten up the high spots on the grind lines. I'll get another picuture up after the kids hunt for Easter eggs

I stick the tube in a five gallon bucket half filled with sand and cut a tight hole in the bucket cover to keep it upright. Small, portable and fairly difficult to spill.
