Finally: Micarta Sebenza

I like it. My only question is what grade of micarta wil be used? Paper, linen, or canvas? Canvas maicarta would add some nice grippiness :)

I was told Classics only. :grumpy:

If they outlaw guns, can we use swords?

Quick answers to a few questions:
- We have not yet made any of the 2005 Edition Wood Inlay Sebenzas. We're running late with them - probably late July, into August.
- No plans to offer micarta in the Annual Edition (Regular Sebenza). The concept for the Annual Edition is that we use unusual, figured wood, making it a collector series. Micarta doesn't quite fit the concept!
- We are using canvas micarta - the same material that we use for Green Beret and Neil Roberts handles.
- No plans for G10 or any other material.

Just received my small micarta classic with duel silver inlayed studs today. Sweet! Great grippy feel to the handles. I was to impatient to wait for the Blade show. Very tactical, very cool. Guess I'm going to need a large too!

Oh, come on, you can't post this and not include any pictures. :) Also, where did you get yours from?

I wish I had a digital to post a pic fellas, sorry! Devert back to the pic Anne posted, it pretty much looks like it.

I'm probably the first person to receive one. Anne and Missy sent it to me overnight yesterday. I was suppose to pick it up at the show from them. I wanted to pay for it now, but just ended up having them send it. My impatients pays off again. I've been dealing with Chris Reeve Knives for years. I have many Sebenza's in my collection. One of these days I will take a group photo.

Also talking with Anne Friday; she mentioned that Chris will not be at the Blade show this year. He is back in South Africa celebrating his mothers 90th birthday! Not many of us get a chance to do that. I think it's great of him. I'm looking forward to meeting Anne, Mike and the some other staff members at the show even without the man himself. Hope to meet some of you as well! :)

I would love to see that, you've really whetted my appetite there, Blackend

Looking forward to seeing them :D

Oh yeah. And the reverse screw scenerio looks sweet on these! The contrast from dark handle to polished screws is nice. :p

Blackend, if you don't mind my asking, what did your micarta Sebbie run you?

I'm just curious if these are the same price as the wood inlaid Classics, or if the bead-blasted handles, stonewashed blade, and micarta inlays drop the price as I expect it would.

blade man,

Same price as the classic wood inlays. I'm guessing the work involved in creating these are the same as the woods. Micarta has to be milled and handles blasted, blades stonewashed, etc. Worth the cost in my book; then again I am a Sebenzaholic! :)
