Man, what a PITA this was.
The original piece of Ash that this came with was GARBAGE!. I then had to track down a sutible replacement handle.
Ended up going with a 1 1/2 dowell Hickory, about 48in long. Sanded, stained, and varnished. Turned the handle down some on my lathe to have a place to wrap. Painted the head and wrapped it up. This sucker is FIERCE! Heavy as hell, I have no doubt it would crush bone no problem.
Just for reference, im 6'2.

I did some Runes. Much respect to the man that can decode it.

Very nice. I have something similar coming soon. That pic would make you look much more intimidating if you weren't surrounded by floral print. Just saying. :p

:( Its my mothers kitchen. Unfortunately, dad still has all the cool machines in his shop, in HIS backyard. :(

I used a Pick handle whittled down by hand (lots of hours watching shows in the living room with a drop cloth). I don't have any wood working tools, so did it with a fixed sheath knife.

that rifleman's hawk is 19 inches for scale, and I did not get the whole handle in the pic either.

they are sturdy. Make great pumpkin smashers if you have a good stump to put the pumpkins on.
I am making a stand for my throwing stump to get it higher to be able to throw this at it (the height now works fine for knives and hawks, but not this).

Looks like you bead blasted the head. Nice. I need to so some sanding on mine to get rid of the finish, then I can finish it with a patina.

That is one Cool Pole Axe NO F-bdy Bs!!
What would you charge to make mine like that???

Looks Great!!

LOL, I guess I need to work up a fee for modding CS products. I am working on 3 hawks for some friends on a different board, and 2 from this board.
Whats the going hourly rate for hawk mods?:D

I picked up one of those CS War Hammers years ago because...hell, I don't know but whenever I pick it up and play around with it for a bit I can tell that thing would leave a serious dent in anything softer than a pick-up truck fender! That Pole Axe my be just the thing for late night inspections of the perimeter!! Looks great.
