Well, it finally arrived last Friday. Is it ever a beauty! Just had to share it with those of you who might be interested. The picture does not even begin to show the knife in all of it's glory. In a nutshell, it is a Keith Coleman Banshee model with a 3 1/4" hand rubbed BG-42 blade with Paul Bos heat treat, gold anodized and jeweled Ti liner-lock, mokume bolsters and desert ironwood scales. Fit & finish is very good, action is very smooth (and I expect it to improve even more with use), solid lock-up and it is the most comfortable folder I own to use. All in all, I am very pleased with all aspects of my first custom folder purchase. The only downside is that this knife was planned as a daily carry and it is just so darned purty I almost hate to subject it to use. Almost

! I originally intended the knife to have a clip but changed my mind as I did not want to cover the mokume pattern with a piece of gold Ti. Functionally, I would have preferred the clip but the knife looks gorgeous without one, and I plan on getting a clip type pocket sheath as an alternative. These things are truly addictive and I already have my next one worked out and ready to order.

Nice first Custom! I have had Paul Bos heat treat some of my blades, when the mood hits to make a knife, and they hold up very well and take a good edge.
Mokume is very pretty stuff and I don't care if others down play it as too soft, it's just darn beautiful and I love the way it patinas with age, oxidizes is the tech term but patina sounds nicer? When I first bought a knife with Mokume from Rick Hinderer, nice maker by the way!, I was cleaning up the knife a little and polished up the mokume! Yikes it all looked the same!! I called Rick and he just laughed and said to take some fine steel wool and brush the bolsters and let it be for a while, whew I was nervous I had ruined it!

Good decision on no clip, often ruins the feel of the knife in hand.

Good choice blademan. Keiths knives (at least all I have seen) are well done. Very solid lockup's and smoth actions.

Glad to see a few more clipless folks. I guess I will like clips when the both look and feel better than the knife does without a clip.

Enjoy , but very very careful it can be addicting.

Beautiful knife. Further proof that not every knife has to be tactical. Congratulations and enjoy!

Congrats, Blademan 13!

Keith makes a beautiful knife. A couple of months ago, I visited his shop and was really impressed with him and his work. He is one of the best values around.

Thanks for the great pic.

Very nice, indeed! Mr. Coleman's designs always catch my eye and this is no exception. Nice lines, nice combination of materials.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Nothing like the anticipation (and a little doubt!) when you order your first custom. Sure am relieved that it lived up to my expectations.

Darrel, your next!
