Finally, my two first knives! Thank you everyone!

You make me sick. That's not what someone wants to see when they open up a "First knife" thread. They want to see some horribly deformed piece of metal that makes them feel good about their first. They want to be able to say, "Hey, good effort. Don't worry too much about the way it looks, keep at it and you'll get better, I promise." Well now, thanks to you, my first looks that much crummier. Kill joy. :grumpy:

Don't let that Stu cool you down, he makes damn fine knives too! ;)

Alain you are dead on, very very fine work. You certainly have the eye for this. I'm jealous you also can build tools like that! Great job, and like everyone else here, I can hardly wait to see your next work. Makes me want to get down in the shop again, right now!!!

Wow! Now that's some darned impressive work! Congratulations Alain, you are quite the craftsman. :)

itrade: "Also the pictures themselves - you must also be a photographer"

I have make my studies in photography... I worked some time as photographer on my other life, but I switched for the multimedia and computer graphics... On the other hand, I am not much accustomed to photographing objects, I will work on that...

Bruce Bump: "That grinder is a work of art in itself. It even has variable speed?"

Yes, my small grinder have variable speed (small 1/2 HP motor), it is very practical for blade sharpening (on slack belt section) and handle shaping, I have also variable speed on my Coote Grinder, but in certain cases I prefer the small grinder because of the 1" width. I have difficulty of accustoming me to the 2"width of my 2" X 72"... And for the handle shaping it is often too broad...

Disco Stu: "thanks to you, my first looks that much crummier. Kill joy"

Sorry ! I have the same effect when I see all the splendid knives posted here... It is discouraging...

Thank again I will post some picture my third and fourth knife soon (still well done knives) It remains to make develop the film... (I do not have a digital camera yet) :(
