Well this blade has been in my box for over 3 years I reckon....

....thought it was high time I indulged and put one together for myself.

Its a Roselli Ultra High Carbon (UHC) Carpenter blade, always liked the idea of this modern Wootz steel.

The handle is plasticised Curly Birch with Birch Bark & Copper.

The Copper was a complete SOB to work with it gets SO hot SO quickly its unbelievable! Had to take it steady and keep cooling down every minute or so.

Unfortunately all the lovely pattern is on the wrong side when I'm using it...that's the bloody problem with these figured woods...you never know what its gonna be like 'inside'....ah well.

I like a bit of length in my hand () as I use quite an elongated grip:

Its nice to have one I can keep....its been aaaaaages since I made one for myself and this has been a long time coming.

Nice blade btw....incredibly sharp!

As always comments and criticisms very welcome.

Thanks for looking

Nice job, man.

What's the length of that handle? Very intelligent shape & contouring.

nice job on that! A lot of materials, copper, some bronzes, ivories, purpleheart, osage- take time to work because you have to keep the temperature ranges low. That's fine- it's partr of the process.

Looks like a cobbler blade?

Cheers guys.

I've tweaked my usual shape http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=749564 to suit my hand a little better, its less 'universal'. Still comfortable in all grips, the flared but also allows for a Leuku style grip for chopping ;)

OAL length is 8 inches, the blade been just over 3 of those.

The blade I got from some guy in the UK, but they do sell them at Ragweed Forge or Brisa amongst other places....

...warning though....they ain't cheap! Oh and the ground goes part way down the tang....total ball ache for bolster fitting!

What's a cobbler blade??

real attractive package. i love plenty of handle , makes control issues simple. also the roselli blades are rated as some of the finest hi-carbon cutters made. love the color of that handle. thanks for showing.dennis
