After 5 Sebenzas I have finally decided to pick up the Umnumzaan.

I've always liked the knife, but when initially putting thought into my first CRK I wanted it to be the Sebenza.

Originally thinking I would be sticking with just one sebbie it turned into 5 [currently 4] and I came to realize some of that money could have easily been an Umnumzaan by now.

Well I've been sitting on money for a while and I really wanted a Large Insingo with Micarta, but since it is not yet available I had to scratch the itch. I'll be saving towards the Insingo once they are available.

Although redundant this one is MINE.
Here are the pics!

Congrats on your purchase! Glad you like it!

Me, personally -- I don't like the Zaaan. the frame lock is too hard to access from the handle -- it means you have to use additional force that is potentially unsafe as that additional force is a control point. There should be easy access to close the knife (like the sebenza!) - but there is not, and in turn there is too much manipulation needed, and the hand spends too much time near the "danger" part of the blade.

I also do not need a "piercer" for a knife - that tip is just too fine for my needs... In fact, the knife that I like even more than the sebenza is the Insingo. that blade (insingo) is a true work knife for me.

the knife is an exceptional piece of work -- if there was just a slight change to the handle to access the liner, as well as a change to the tip, i believe my entire outlook would change.

Love the way it's so stealthy quiet upon deployment.
Thanks for sharing the pics!

I agree the Zaan is not nearly as easy to disengage as the 21s, but that being said it's not "difficult" to operate.
I take my time closing my knives so I don't have the worry of creating such pressure/force.

I definitely wouldn't mind if they made it a bit easier someway/somehow, but you can't have EVERYTHING you want...unless you go custom.

Listantica: your welcome and boy do I enjoy viewing your collection!

Looks nice. I should be getting my first Umnumzaan in the mail tomorrow. Can't wait!

That looks familiar

Glad you like it man, it really is nice to have that sebenza-esque quality but with the lightning quick opening and more aggressive look of the umnumzaan.

Congrats man, thats a badass knife. Look foward to your video on it soon :p. Let us know if you like the zaan better than the seb.

Great choice on picking up the Zaan Zippo. I also just picked one up and realized I shoulda got one a long time ago. Talk about silky smooth. I think the more you handle it the more youll see
how every part of the knife was designed to fucntion flawlessly. Dis engaging the lock will become second nature.

seconds on looking forward to the video on this. can't wait to get on of my own one day. that scuff doesn't look too bad either. how did it happen lucky?

i saw someone do a video on the umnum and he was opening it with ease. did some beach test too, putting it through sand and it still held up like a boss or umnumzaan(get it) :P

Awesome knife. It's my only folding knife EDC. It's perfection so why carry anything else, ever?

There is nothing difficult or unwieldy about opening or closing this knife. With a little practice, it is as fluid as anything.

They had this at blade today Large Insingo with Micarta, but was bought right in front of me ! But I did get to handle it and man it was nice !

The original owner scuffed it somehow messing with the pivot, when i got it from him the pivot was very tight so I played with it a little to get it to that perfect thumb flick level, with the buttery smoothness I was looking for. Hopefully Zippo likes where I left it :) I really didn't want to get rid of the umnum but I got a great opportunity to pick up an XM for cheap and I had to jump on it.

Thats why they use plastic for the takedown kit on the umnum. So the pivot wont get all scratched up. No paperclips!

Thanks everyone!

Enjoying thus far [can anyone not enjoy a CRK?]!

Lucky: The action is perfection! Fast/Smooth/Solid. The Scratches on the pivot don't bother me. It's a user and doesn't affect function.

Hkk: That's awesome and I'm by no means surprised it sold on the spot! haha The ultimate utilitarian set up imo.

My Zaan is one of my all time favorite knives and EDCs. I've carried mine every day for the last 3 weeks at some point of day.
