So I'm very excited as I finally ordered a 10" contact wheel. Found it at the right time on ebay. Still wrapped in plastic with bearings for $150. http://www.ebay.com/itm/191705796397?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Now I just need to build the tool arm for it. Is there any special tricks I need to do to make sure this thing runs true? Its 1/2" ID. I just plan on running a 1/2" bolt through with some spacers into the tool arm. Anyone have pics of theirs?

I would just say make sure your hole is tapped square and the wheel is in alignment with your drive wheel and tracking wheel. What grinder are you using?

Was it a gib or kmg clone or something or all original?
Just wondering what size tool arm and what you plan on using.
So you're not tapping the hole then, disregard that last:)

P.s. if that's a real handgun, you may want to find a different home for that, metal dust in areas that you might not want them

Looks like a good deal on the wheel. I used a solid aluminum arm and just tapped the hole for a 1/2" bolt and cut a brass bushing to the length needed to line up the center of the big wheel with the centers of the drive and tracking wheels. Whether you tap the hole or drill straight through, you need to be sure to drill the holes straight and that just requires that the table on your drill press is level all the way around. Below is a trick I found on these forums for getting my table level. You bend a piece of wire and chuck it up and rotate the chuck by hand to see where the table is high or low. Adjust/shim the table until the wire just barely touches all the way around and your good to go.

Thats an awesome trick! I've actually always thought of how this could be squared up without just eyeing it. I'll definitely try this.

Please keep us/me updated on this purchase. That cost is very affordable and I would go to the next larger one if it works out for you. Thanks
