I agree, NYC cops and DA Vance Jr are completely out of control when it comes to abuse of knife laws!
That man was lucky he was only arrested and not shot by East New York cops!
The only thing more dangerous in that neighborhood than criminal are the cops!

I liked this part: "Last month, the city settled another suit involving Delmonico for $120,000 in which he was accused of falsely arresting a man who laughed at the cop after a perpetrator had outrun him, according to lawyer Brett Klein."

Doug Ritter should see this!

The New York City police and DA office are an affront to all LEO's trying to do a hard dirty job.

WARNING!!!
In NYC it's illegal to carry any fixed or folder knife in the open or in the sheathe under jacket etc.
There have been many cases where police arrested people when officer seen just the clip of the knife on the pocket, they're considered concealed weapon.
In the pocket it's ok because it's tool but God forbid same knife clipped to pants pocket then it instantly becomes concealed weapon of knife maniac!
That's why I no longer use clips and instead carry knives inside pocket with concealed lanyard for quick pull out!

There is an old expression in Russian that clearly applies to this situation "If there is a Reason than we will find the Way! If there is a Way then we will find the Reason!"

I was searching for a new flashlight on a forum and saw a thread of a guy who police stopped and yield at him . you have a knife in your pocket . He had a Zebra light clipped to his pocket . He said it was a scary moment for him . I go to the maybe five times a year and never take a knife .

$57,000 for false arrest and imprisonment? He should have gotten more. But I'm happy the guy got a lawyer to push his case and give nyc a kick in the nuts.

That's why we will no longer visit or spend a dime in NYC. Just sayin'...

Wow this story made my night. Its just a shame that policeman still has his job. Citizens need to really start picking out the bad citizens, and police officers really need to call out the bad police officers.

Good news for us and the plaintiff--maybe now he can afford a real Delica. I haven't seen one of those knockoffs in over 10 years.

The more liberal/democratic city, the less individual/personal/constitutional rights you have!

When's the last time you were in NYC?

I didn't say that I managed to escape NYC:grumpy:, not yet but working on new plan! To paraphrase Pinky & Brain "Tomorrow we try escape plan again!";)

To quote Eagles "You're always welcome to Hotel NY BUT you can never leave!"

I've been stuck in this black hole of city for more than quarter of the century!
I've managed to escape its gravitational pull for short periods of time but always get pulled back in!

BTW NYC is a great place to visit but a horrible place to live!:o

Since this isn't a political discussion, that's not true.
PLENTY of personal and individual rights are stopped by conservative/republican city's/state's as well, and many liberal cities/states allow for more individual/personal rights.
Just depends on what things it is.

^This, if you're being factual.

I wonder if kniferights was involved in this case at all?

This topic should be about knives, not democrats, liberals, republicans, conservatives, elections, etc. talk about knives in General. Knife Discussion, if you want to engage in some political discussion, we have a forum for that too (this one is not it though). The truth of statements real or imagined makes no difference. There is a time and a place, this is not the place. Wg understand it can be tough separating the discussion, but for the sake of making an effort, stay on topic.

Haha, I hear ya brother, I used to cook out there, but now come out for work every other couple months. Although the last time was this last winter and spring. I love it out there, but now in my week or two at a time stints during the best weather ;) although now I just keep a small folder with me instead of bringing the knife roll.

Sorry Rev if off topic.

Sounds good, just no political stuff, please. With the news I think we can all get our fill there.
