Finally stripped my BK2!

My only tips are to use the spray on Kean Strip brand stripper that says it works in 15 minutes because it does! The coating didn't bubble at all and I actually thought it wasn't working until I took one swipe with the scrapper and the caoting came right off. Get some decent gloves, i had cloth gloves that were coated in latex, the stripper eventually started to seep through and I could feel a light tingle, luckily I was done by then. Another tip is to pick up a plastic scrapper, that prevents you from scrapping the metal. Other than that there's not much more too it, very easy actually. Hope that helps and happy stripping:D
Thanks for the comments guys!

Mine is ugly but she's a good ole hound. I sandblasted it the first week I owned it then ground a flat on the spine towards the tip for firesteel use. The sandblasting left a nice smooth surface due to the sand blaster media was wore out and about like powder. The only problem is that it shows scratches.

Looks good did the same to one of mine, I like the steel alot. The patina mix I used works great, mustard, white vinegar and lemon juice applied with a sponge.

Refinished mine first with red scotchbrite the washed and coated with Birchwood Casey Super Blue let stand about ten min and rubbed with paper towel then washed again. It leaves a very nice deep looking black also sanded my handle. Now I just need to polish the convex a bit and ready work.

Trev, this is the best strip job I've seen! Good work. The photos do it justice as well.

Hey trevytrev your bk2 looks awesome stripped I never got to see mine stripped since I sandblasted coating off. The grind line on your knife looks really nice if mine looked as good as yours I might just oil it up good and let it petina naturally. I parkerized mine but didn't like the rough finish so then I ran it thru a shot peen and blasted it with steel shot thinking it might toughen or stress relieve the blade if it's possible to improve on a Becker. I was wondering if you have used your knife since roughing the handles and if it makes a noticeable difference.

man, i striped a Cold steel tomahawk head and it took me two weeks to get most of it off,
i should have just bought the good stuff rather than using lite-duty indoor thinner, but
the blade mod looks real nice!

Thanks guys! GoNadz, I'm glad you have something pretty to look at one your desktop while waiting for yours :D

As for the handles, I have used both the BK2 and BK9 since modifying the handle like this and I feel it's definitely an improvement in the handle. Very gripy without out being to course, no worry that heavy use may bother you hands.
