Finally after owning the ER-48 for several months, i'm able to use it :)
the single speed motor was just to darn fast for me.., and i was to cheap to buy the expensive VFD set-up from Rob.

The other day i came accross this "DART controller which included a pretty much new 1hp baldor motor. i offered the fella $200 for the whole set-up and he happily accepted. Man, variable speed is awsome!!! he's going to let me know when he gets more in, so i can run all my tools off it.

I just threw together a large bench with leftovers for it, so i can add the 72" extension plate!!

i know lighting sucks, but i'm workin on it

I have two and bought the table extensions for them. Now I have to only buy one size belt.....2x72. Much, much better. Machine runs better also. Try it...you'll like it!

Nice!!!! I used something similar to that at Don Robinson's shop and it was awesome how you can get into the finger choils to clean up.

Did I read this 200 bucks for the whole set up? What where do you shop?
I hope you have a mask because :)
Man you stole that one! Good deal congrats!!!

No, no. $200 for the motor and controller!! i baught the grinder a while back.
Its a sweet set-up at a very attractive price :) actually the first real deal that i've come accross, not like JT  :p

Question guys: how have you guys squared up the platen to the workrest? mines out a good bit and i cant see how i could accuratly shim it to be square?? the wheel is fine.

I bought one like that a couple years ago, except mine was set up for 2x72. For the money you'd think I'd use it more. That said I wouldn't want to be without it, it's just dang handy to have in a shop.

This may be a silly question guys, but i really dont know.

When using variable speed, should i always turn it on with the dial at 0.., or can i leave it at say 4 to keep the same speed i was working on?? it seems fine either way but i'm not sure if i should be doing it a certain way to prolong life???
