Good choice on the Opinel. I got my first a month or two ago for the same reasons you got yours and I love it. I always have it in one pocket or another along with my other EDC(s). Just a great knife all-around and I can get it screaming sharp.

I just got 2 Opinels last week. Loving them so far. Both No 6, one in Olivewood (very attractive) with SS blade, the other is a standard No 6 w carbon steel.

I have a question for Opinel users. Some say they're convex ground. Mine came pretty dull. I just took them to the Sharpmaker at 30 degrees, and they're extremely sharp, but if I knew they were (are they?) convex, could I just strop them to sharpen them initially? I'll get another carbon (they're like $7), just so I can play with that.
