I like the style of this hammer..it mushrooms on one end. Anyone know where I can find something similar?

I have never seen them available on the web anywhere but I have made a couple. A metal lathe is not really a vital knifemaking piece of machinery but it really helps with making specialty tools. Most certainly if you can't find a tool anywhere.

I use mine quite a bit for forging and it moves smaller steel out in a 360 deg direction with the exagerated domed face. It also self corrects with most of the weight on the bell face.

Machined from 4142 with teak handles I turned.

deloid,

I don't know were to get the hammer you asked about but the one under it llooks familiar. Who made it??

Brian,

Your hammer looks cool. Bet it swings real nice..

Chuck, our old friend Mike Pick made the hammer under it.

I got the rounding hammer in a trade a long time ago and use it quite a bit.

Well Tai's hammer has an exceptional balance and I like the way it flairs on the one side. I think tai said it was around 2 pounds.

Got one to sell? Make one? Please let me know-

Thanks

Tai,, OK it was your hammer.. I thought it had a familiar fuller to it. Can't miss that forged head. I still use mine. He does/did make a nice hammer. I may have to try making one of those rounders. Looks like it does have a nice sweet spot. I love the cutlers style hammer that has a heavily weight forward head. Surprisingly easy to use.

Chuck, I talked to Mike just last week. I've been trying to get him to make me some more hammers for years. I guess he's been real busy forging other stuff. I use my Pick quite a bit. :)
