I was walking out of the drug store this morning, and I got back to my car to find a knife laying on the ground by my back tire. First I thought it was a Buck 110, but nope... it was a Sears Craftsman knife. Anyways, I grabbed it, looked around a bit, it was pretty early and the parking lot was pretty empty so I took it. Hmmm come to think of it, I have a Sears card and I'm in Sears quite a bit and I've never seen anything but those Super-Knife razor blade things. When did Craftsman make knives?

The blade is etched "CRAFTSMAN (R) STAINLESS STEEL" then the tang says "SEARS CRAFTSMAN U.S.A. 95206". It's flat ground, kind of like a Caly Jr's blade, shaving sharp, pretty nice. Anybody know when this was made?

Edit: Nevermind, found a couple on eBay, guess it's nothing special, but oh well still a good user knife, probably use it for a hunting knife.

Here's a picture of it..

Nice find.

Sears has "made" knives as long as I can remember. I've got a stockman from the mid 80's I bought there.

All of their knives were made by other companies and adorned with the Sears logo. Mainly Camillus and Schrade IIRC.

Right now they have some Kershaw's with the Sears name on them, I think I saw a Chive or Scallion a short while back.

It's a pretty nice knife, I was supprised by the ZERO blade play and great lockup. The tip is a bit rounded from being sharpened wrong IMO, but other than that I like it, I like it a lot :)

After all the stories of people losing knives, it's good to hear one of us FOUND one! :) and a good little working knife, at that!

I only find money on the ground ... in New York City, it's more common to find stuff, because you have to watch where you walk anyway  ^$@#% dogs ... :grumpy:

I had one of those! Mine looked just like your but it was made by Schrade I believe. It looked just like the Schrade lockback that were being sold a while ago. It could have been Camilus but I am pretty mine was Schrade.

It is like a Buck 110 in a lot of ways. They are solid knives but are now outdated. You need two hands to open and close them and the edge is too thick for slicing. I think they make good work knives for those that beat on there knives.

I think Sears will replace your knife if you break it so it is a good thing to have. Use that knife for the choirs that you would never use a newer knife for and if you ever break it, Sears will buy you a new one!

It's kind of weird, because I found a Ka-Bar a few years ago. It was the same size, just like a Buck 110. I tried to sharpen it up but it's really really hard steel and just didn't want to take an edge. I think I still have it somewhere, must go look for it now. :D

Still finding these two doesn't make up for the Delica and Buck that were stolen from me  Maybe I'll finally get a new Delica, I don't think she'll mind.. (She being the old stolen Delica... :D)

I found a SOG PAratool at the top of an ice-climb in Banff once. I gave it to my alpine guide as a tip. He was stoked.

Here's a picture of the Ka-Bar folder I found years back...

Ka-Bar = Top; Craftsman = Bottom...

I found a Victorinox Swiss Champ (an older version) once. I was like 11-13 years old,if not younger. It was the coolest thing I ever found, and my first experience with a large SAK (lots of tools). It was like finding a UFO or something, I was blown away with all the gadgets on it (OMG, A SAW!! OMG, A MAGNIFIER! OMG SCISSORS! OMG WHAT IS THIS THING?!).

I once found a SOG Flash II inside a planter box near a courthouse. I was going to the library and the courthouse was in the same compound. At first, I thought it was a cheap Frost piece of cr*p but when I examined the knife inside the library's rest room, I found that I got scored pretty good!

Nelson, I have the same kabar. It is impossible to sharpen. I have no idea what is wrong with that knife-it's tough as nails, but dull like a wet mouse.

Yeah thank god I didn't actually buy it. If I did I would have sent it back to Ka-Bar in little tiny pieces. I suppose I could buy a X-Coarse Diamond stone and go at it, but it's not worth it.

I just want to know how come the stuff I find is never as good as the stuff I lose?

Ilovetoolsteel- I was in high school and at x-country practice, we were running on a trail through the woods behind my high school, and we found a magazine for a .380 with 9 rounds.

WadeF- I bet a lot of people stash their knives before going into court. most are probably junk, but there's always the discriminating felon out there who prefers top of the line cutlery. :)

Hmmm... looking at them side by side, that Sears knife looks a LOT like a Schrade LB7. Schrade always had those nice rounded edges on the scales & bolsters, compared to the sharper corners on Camillus's and Buck 110s.

Considering that Schrade made a lot of slipjoints for Sears over the years, might they have also made some lockbacks, like this one?
