Just a quick update....
I'd like to thank everyone for their feedback. The site is working out pretty well.
I have nearly 2,000 visitors (about 10k page views) a day! Not too bad for
a few weeks.
Also, now I have 9 stores that I use. It was 10 but one of them completely
changed their site so now I need to re-configure it. Still adding more stores weekly.
This has become a part time job on top of my full time job.or maybe
It's fun though, to see people using something you created.
In a few weeks, in appreciation of everyone's support, I'm going to have
an ammunition give away. I haven't figured out all the details but it
will be around $500 and most likely be coming from Double Tap.
DT is my personal favorite and I'm not in cohorts with them. One thing I'll
never do is accept sponsorship from any site that sells ammunition directly.
Congrats on the success of your site!
I hope you don't (didn't?) mind, but I posted links to it on Rugerforums, The Firing Line, Defensive Concealed Carry, and one of the S&W forums. Giving proper credit for your work, everyone that has responded has loved it.
Thanks for your continued work, Mike: it's a much appreciated resource!
As a heads up, SportsmansGuide is being annoying with their catalog: some items show up as out-of-stock upfront while others seem in-stock until you add them to the cart at which time the system tells you they don't actually have it (example being WX2-52588 Wolf® 9 mm 115 Gr. FMJ 1,000 rds. -- http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=180451 )
Your site therefore picks these up as in-stock, which I don't blame on the AmmoEngine at all - it's definitely a shortcoming on SG's part. Just wanted to give you the heads up though since SG dominates so much of the AmmoEngine page but their items are actually out of stock.
First let me say thanks for all the hard work! If I could suggest perhaps it might be a good idea to make it sortable for:
Manufacturer
Description
Grain
Bullet Category
Rounds/Box
Price/Box
Price/Round
Location
That way those using it can compare apples to apples trivially. You are already darned close to it anyway with your "sort by" and "group by" categories. Just a thought.
