How badass is that! I love the fatwood bashing happy bat dude.:D Great video Joe, you did a great job.

Man thats the reason that woodsmonkey is one of my favorite sites!

I guess all my knives are 'Beaters' then cos I use them all on Fatwood !!!

I do if I really have to, but I HATE getting either my hands or my blades sticky. I don't know what it is really, it's one of those few things in the outdoors that really irks me.

haha that's a pretty glorious video!
good job and it helped me learn how to find fatwood a lot better!

great video Joe... that reminds me..i have to go back and get the other chunk of fatwood, that we left behind...:)

Thanks Joe. Wish I had seen that BEFORE I went out looking for some fatwood last weekend. Good tips.

Awesome video Joe, You can tell how much you enjoy teaching. Love the happy bat!

Great video, Joe.

You know, there's something special about being part of a community that derives genuine educational value from a ten-minute video of a club- and machete-wielding man smashing large pieces of wood in order to make small pieces of wood. :D

All the best,

- Mike

Joe, that's a glorious video ;)

thanks for sharing, some good info in there

Awsome video!

:D "Treasure". "Happy bat". "Big honkin' piece" :D . Loved it.

so there is a firemaking post topic thing, how come I didn't see that? gah. The how-to will work fine I guess.

Another great video Joe.

I need to make a "happy bat" now. Now that I think abou it it is a rabbit stick too eh? Something I didn't make at PWYP, but I had fun watching everyone give it a whirl. Now just to find a good piece of hardwood in a area filled with Pine!
