Its been a few weeks back when I posted asking for suggestions on how to finish a maple box I made to house a set I was working on. Well after several light sandings between appling the 14 coats of thinned tru oil, here it is, and its contents. What do you think?? Thanks for all the help.

Thanks,

Bill

Mr. Buxton, your work looks like it should be offered with a vintage Holland & Holland double rifle. The detail and craftsmanship exhibited here reminds me of that... Old World craftsmen, at the top of their field, in the top of their day.

Awe inspiring!

Bill,
I am sure the owner will display this with great pride. Fred

Bill,
It's no wonder I couldn't get anyone to respond to my thread! They have all been sitting here all google eyed, mouthes hanging agape, drooling all over their monitors in anticipation of your next release. They should make you post pics on a different site so that the rest of us don't feel so humbled! AMAZING!

All that work was certainly worth that AWESOME detail that came out. what more can you say. Mike

Heirloom indeed.

That is right up there with the BEST that I have ever seen.

Entire package is beautiful.

Ya done good Bill.

You don't need me to say that the box and its contents are top notch. Just one thing I think will improve the whole thing:

Please, Please, Please, find different corner and latch hardware for that glorious box.

Perhaps wrought steel, or something, but the thin, pressed off-the-shelf brass stuff is simply not worthy of your great work!!!

Thank you one and all for the great comments, they are really appreciated. There was a pretty good amount of time in these pieces but it was worth it and they turned out pretty good. The blade steel on the hawk, bowie, hunter and folder is all a mosaic radial from the same billet and the hardware on each piece is matching also, but its a very low layered mosaic radial pattern. This piece wasn't an order, I was fortunate to get a table at the Chicago show so I made this to take up there, hopefully someone will come along and find it as nice as you all have and help me with my boys college tutition. :D

Thank you all again,

Bill
