• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

FINDLY, the maple box is done.

Very nice , turned out beautiful.
I love the striping in the grain , stunning......

beautiful work - presentation-grade in every aspect.

Wow Bill , that is really awesome ! Think you could give us the run down on the method you finally decided to use ? I know you said 14 coats of thinned tru-oil , did you use any stain to bring the grain out like that prior to tru-oil ? Thanks again for the pics

Sorry for not responding sooner David but I just got back from being gone a few days.
All I did to the box was sand it to 600 then using thinned fieblings med. brown dye wiped a light coating over it, let dry then lightly buffed with 000 steel wool. applied 1 unthinned coat of tru oil, let dry for 7 days, I know Bruce B. said wait 15 days but I'm not that patient. lightly sanded with 600 then applied a very thin coat of thinned tru oil with a rag, next day, lightly sanded with 2000 and applied another, for 14 days. Thats all I did.

Thanks for all the nice comments,

Bill

Hey Bill , no problem at all. I knew you would get around to it :) Thanks a bunch for the details . I fully understand the 15 day thing , I would have caved in at about a week too .
