Finest Damascus Steel Suppliers

At one point Kevin Cashen was selling Damascus bar. He's fanatical about quality. If it were me I'd beg him to make me some.
Especially his O1/L6 Damascus. If you can get good O1/L6 damascus you wont want 1095/15n20 mix anymore(for performance anyway)..Its much more expensive though, Ive made my own but I have to break down the L6 under the hammer and its too time consuming.

Great to see Markus Balbach post in this thread, he is one of the most respected and talented forgers in the world, IMO. Obtaining his damascus in the states will be a real plus.

Nobody has mentioned Damasteel yet, which is one the finest available.

Randy Haas Also makes some killer stuff. I've been using his damascus exclusively for razors and knives and after 30+ pieces, have yet to have one with ANY flaws. just my .02

The OP mentioned North and South America. But both companies, Markus and Damasteel appear to be great companies from what I have read.

I had not heard of Markus there until his post. From what I can find anyway seems to be a great company and their products will be well received here in the states.

They don't appear to be great to me, I know from hard use of both steels.

Sorry to hear that Kris. My apologies if it was unclear, I was going off what bit I could find regarding them. I have not purchased damascus from them. Or anyone for that matter. I make my own, and if I see a pattern or steel combination I want I try to make it. And if at first I don't succeed....

Sorry if I came off as less than pleasant, that was not my intent, but I own and use damascus from Devin, Chad, Mike, Rob(Calcinore, Thomas, Eggerling), Damasteel, Brad Vice(Alabama Damascus) Markus, Sean O'Hare, Göran Enocksson , Randy Haas jr. and several ABS Master smith's.

And if at first I don't succeed....

That is definitely the right attitude
