some people like the white jew. rouge, the green kind at like lowes, or even flitz. I usually am pretty happy with any of those, but here is a decent site for even finer abrasives:

also, as is mentioned denim, or after leather later newspaper will not give you a mirror polish, but will make the edge even sharper. Also, it seems that most mirror edges i've seen have been a mirror even before stropping, so maybe its not so much the final touches, as the sharpening process itself that could be improved, by taking the edge up to a much higher grit. personally, i go up to 5k, and then just use like i said green, white, or flitz - and it will be a mirror edge.

i seen some diamond abrasives on there that are 50,000 grit and higher, as well as about any other kind imaginable.
